Working at the Speaking Center instilled a passionate in me for teaching college students. As a consultant, putting on workshops for classes and helping students during one-on-one consultations was the type of work I realized I could see myself doing as a career. That’s why I decided to pursue a career in higher education.

As a current PhD student, I’m constantly engaged in public speaking, whether it’s leading class discussions or presenting my research at conferences. As a graduate teaching assistant for the English Department, I use presentation, group communication workshop leading skills in the undergraduate courses that I teach. I love my current job – a student, researcher, and teacher –and can’t imagine doing it without the skills I cultivated at the Speaking Center.
