The National Association of Communication Centers

12th ANNUAL EXCELLENCE AT THE CENTER CONFERENCE

Call for Proposals

The only call which remains open is This I Believe, honoring Paul Sandin, with a deadline of Tuesday, March 19th.

The National Association of Communication Centers (NACC) invites academic research and collaborative submissions to its 12th Annual Excellence at the Center Conference. The Multiliteracy Centers at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will host the 2013 Conference on April 19 & 20.

The theme of this year’s gathering, Reflect, Rejoice, & Remix, invites participants to share their experiences, innovations, and ideas with Communication Center faculty, staff, and professionals. We seek to reflect on obstacles we have overcome, progress we have made with our research, lessons we have learned, and how we have moved forward in order to help others who could learn from our experiences and wisdom. We seek to rejoice in the advances we have made and to share the joy of learning and experiencing what happens everyday in our centers. We rejoice in the growth of our organization while recognizing that there is still a lot of growth for us to aspire to. Lastly, we seek to remix* what we are currently doing in our centers. How can we integrate new styles of learning, new technology, new theories into what we are doing now? How can we reimagine our space to better reach speakers and promote collaboration and empowerment? What can we do differently with respect to collaborative partnerships (on and off campus)? This year’s conference theme seeks to look back, celebrate where we are, and look forward to how we can use all of our experiences to propel our centers forward.

This conference will feature roundtable discussions, panel presentations, competitive paper competitions for students and directors/faculty, student essays on ethics at the center, workshops, great ideas for teaching, and other opportunities to share ideas and grow. We invite participants to submit their work and to build upon our theme of Reflect, Rejoice, & Remix.
