BS. Middle School Education with Language Arts and Social Studies Concentrations. Minor in Sociology, 2012
Religious School Principal & Youth Director, Temple Beth Or, Raleigh
I jump started my post-graduate career teaching Middle School Language Arts to 130 wonderful seventh graders in Alexandria, Virginia and then 120 rambunctious Eighth Graders in Greensboro, North Carolina. I am now a Religious School Principal and Youth Director in Raleigh, North Carolina. In between teaching and running a religious school and youth group, I tutor and instruct an art class to K-2 grade. Through my various positions I constantly am finding myself thinking back and sharing the wonderful communication competencies and techniques I learned, taught, and oversaw at UNCG’s Speaking Center.
First as a Communication Consultant, I was able to help various people learn how to write and give a speech. As a Managing Consultant and Orientation Coordinator, I helped not only speakers and consultants, but myself. The Speaking Center was more than just a job or a place to help people; it was a family and a wonderful learning opportunity. Of all the jobs I had at UNCG, The Speaking Center was my favorite! I am extremely thankful to The University Speaking Center for being a wonderful foundation for myself and constant opportunity for others. Communication is key to success in every walk of life. A quote I once read stated “take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people,” if any one place can help you achieve this, it is UNCG’s Speaking Center.
