Fall 2011 – Community Outreach

Beyond Academics

Consultants facilitated weekly one-on-one consultations for many BA students. This is an on-going project which supports the development of many communication competencies in an effort to live a more independent life. Additionally our workshop services were extended to BA.

Interlink Language Center at UNCG

Consultants facilitated weekly one-on-one conversation practice consultations for many Interlink students. This is an on-going project which supports the development of many nonverbal behaviors associated with interpersonal communication here in the USA. Additionally our workshop services were extended to Interlink.

Residence Halls

As part of our continuing outreach, consultants offered a workshop to freshmen in a residence hall on UNCG’s campus. The workshop was designed to teach participants the value of interpersonal communication when living together in a dorm. Organized by a residential advisor (RA), a topic of particular interest to this group were the skills to build meaningful relationships with those in our daily lives
