Staff worked with people from the United Way to help in their development of oral communication competencies.
Consultants facilitated workshops for many sections of FFL about group dynamics. Group presentations are part of the course so consultants went into their classrooms to give information on how to have productive group work, active listening skills, and how to present as a unified group. Activities facilitated during the workshops helped students understand the importance of cohesion and team work. This partnership has been ongoing and will continue in the future.
Faculty helped judge graduate student presentations for the 3MT competition (three minute thesis). This internationally known competition asks graduate students to present their thesis or dissertations in three minutes to a general audience. Graduate students at UNCG try to become one of the lucky 10 that will go and present their 3MT in front of key constituents, faculty, staff, and students. The winner of the UNCG version then proceeds to the regional finals.
Consultants facilitated weekly one-on-one conversation practice consultations for many Interlink students. This is an on-going project which supports the development of many nonverbal behaviors associated with interpersonal communication here in the USA. Consultants also held several interactive sessions in classrooms to provide students feedback on facilitating group discussions. Additionally, our workshop programming was extended to Interlink.
