I Met My Best Friend at the Speaking Center.

I was preparing my orientation speech, while in The Speaking Center Theory and Practice course. I had not been in the class very long, and I did not know a lot of people at the center yet. When I came in to work on my orientation speech, my consultant was Abby Hall. As we started talking in my consultation, we just hit it off.

We started talking about ourselves and realized we had so much in common. We made ourselves work on my speech, but only after promising each other that we’d get to know one another later. As my time in the course and at the center progressed so did our friendship. We ended up deciding to become roommates and moved in with each other that summer.

Abby is now my best friend, and I can’t imagine life without her! We love living together and have had so much fun. Without the Speaking Center, we would have never met! I am so thankful for so many things about the center, how much I’ve learned, the leadership experiences that I’ve had, and the diverse people that I’ve met. But more than anything, I am so thankful to have met a lifelong friend.
